All the Possibilities:Story Overview:Creative, compelling, unconventional--Shelby Campbell was unlike any woman Senator Alan MacGregor had ever known. The cynical politician found himself falling in love with the spirited beauty, though she kept him at arm's length. But Alan was determined and nothing was going to keep him from getting what he wanted--not even the centuries-old feud between the MacGregors and Campbells....My Rating: B+My Review:I really enjoyed the story of this MacGregor book. This book pairs up Alan MacGregor with Shelby Campbell...the first pairing between these rival clans, which is not an issue for Alan or Shelby, but has moments for the elder MacGregor. What is an issue for the couple is Alan's career. Alan is a Senator who is being pushed towards the White House. He is very good at what he does and he knows that he can make a difference for the country. At issue, is Shelby. When she was young, her father was headed towards the White House and campaigning when he was assassinated right in front of her. She knows that she can't live with that kind of loss ever again. As a result, she is trying to avoid entanglements with Alan at every turn. She knows that he has the ability to make her fall in love and she doesn't want to face that loss, because she won't put her heart at risk.I LOVED Shelby's character. She has grown up in the politics of DC, but has managed to maintain her own personality without it becoming an issue for "polite" society. She is unique and an artist. She says what she means and never hides behind subterfuge. But even with that fact, she can mingle among DC's elite and fit in perfectly. She honestly is the perfect woman, except for her fear of becoming involved with a politician. On the other hand is Alan. As the eldest of the MacGregor children, Daniel expects him to marry and carry on the MacGregor name. Add to that, he is facing enormous pressures from within DC. He knows that Shelby may not be the ideal for a political wife, but honestly, he is so in love with her, he simply doesn't care. And for Alan, he knows that Shelby is who he wants as his wife...no doubt about it and he pursues her like he has everything in his life...completely!This is another Nora Roberts book that was originally released in 1985. While it still had moments where it felt dated, I enjoyed the story line so much that I could overlook them. It definitely helps to skip the sex scenes as the flowery language is seriously ridiculous as you try to figure out what they are doing through the symbolism...hehe! Now, onward to Grant....an artistic loner, I already like him!!One Man's ArtStory Overview:Grant Campbell was a loner--rude and impossible! Yet as soon as he opened the lighthouse door to Genevieve Grandeau on that stormy night, she was lost. Underneath his gruff, handsome exterior, he was intelligent, sensitive...and slightly scarred. To Gennie, loving meant sharing, trusting. But Grant was hiding in the shadow of the past, afraid to move beyond it. She'd have to convince him that their love was a beacon for the future--but how?My Rating: AMy Review:I am shocked at just how much I loved this book. I adored Grant's character and how he has completely cut himself off from the world. He has a Mr. Darcy-esque personality in this book. He doesn't want to like Gennie and he sure doesn't want to love her. He is gruff and harsh and rude, but underneath it all is this man falling in love and not at all comfortable with that fact. Like Shelby (the heroine from All the Possibilities and his sister,) he was there when his father was assassinated (Grant was 17 at the time) and that has left huge scars on his life. Since then, he has become a solitary person and wants to trust only himself. He is a loner in the true sense of the word.Gennie, on the other hand, is a famous artist who is well know on the society pages from around the world. She is well known for being out on the town and is certainly no stranger to crowds. But like Grant, she has recently suffered a devastating loss and has gotten away from it all to the windy shores of Maine to try to refocus and gain control over her life and grief.I loved the artistic theme that flowed throughout the story. I loved the visual picture of the windswept sea cliffs and the lighthouse. Honestly, there wasn't much about this story that I didn't love. (Note: I have started skipping the sex scenes in these older novels, or I might have had that to complain about...LOL!) I loved the chemistry between these two and their verbal jousting was incredible....so witty and entertaining. I loved the tie that both of them have to the MacGregor clan and how the MacGregor's pulled them both to within their fold. Overall, I highly recommend this one!!!I totally love the MacGregor series by Nora Robert’s. I’ve read each one numerous times. I love the absolute sense of true love and family that’s obvious in each story. This book is two stories about the oldest MacGregor sibling and his new brother-in-law, Alan and Grant, and how they find their true loves. Oh so sweet!I really loved the whole series. I read them all. I do have a small problem. I have read over 60 of her books and twice I have run into the problem of ordering books like Irish Hearts to find out that I already ready read the two books in the duo and it did not give the names before I ordered it so I thought it was a new set. This happened once before and I was a little upset to order these books and my money waisted. I also have all these books. Is there some way I can sell them back to you. I am disabled and if I can just return them in exchange for a few new books, that would be great, if not I would understand but can I sell them back?I love Nora and all of her writing. Sense I am a captive audience and cannot leave my home, I read a lot and if you see my account I read 6 to 8 books a month. I am also looking into getting a electronic book for it is so hard to hold up books. Gloria Dickey 626-964-1358.I've yet to pick up one book by Nora Roberts and not be sucked in. Her characters come to life and they stay with you until you read the next book, then the roller coaster starts all over again.Having read the other MacGregor love stories, I had to find out who Alan married and whether or not he ever became President of the United States. At last. I was, however, disappointed that I had to order a paperback and not my regular Kindle edition--That is tough on my library in case I need to read the series again.I was also surprised about the other person presented in this book - Grant Campbell. Where did he come from? Spoiler alert!!! He is Alan's brother-in-law. His story is just as exciting and sweet as the others of the MacGregor clan and even more so since he is really an introvert and falling in love is the last thing he wants to do.This too was a great read!!I love the MacGregor's clan. The fact I am Scottish helps. The MacGregor rules his family with a iron fist covered in velvet. His goal in life is to get his chidren happly married and providing him and his wife Anna with grandbabies. So far his family is in no hurry. So, if he can nudge the circumstances along...all the better. This is sort of the Scottish version of the Matchmaker. I love the MacGregor, the fiesty 90+ year old head of a family that I adore.First off - seller was prompt with shipping. Item was as good as condition if not better than expected. As always, Nora Roberts is a compelling author. Great story continuing the MacGregors series. If you like series, then I would suggest this book - but, be sure to read the MacGregors book in order, so you don't get confused - plus, it's makes for more enjoyable reading when you know, "who's on first". Happy reading!I read all eleven books of the MacGregors series and found myself still wanting more. I just could not get enough. This Roberts' Family Collection was just great! And I just could not get enough of Daniel MacGregor. What a great character....bigger than life. I found each book more inspiring than the previous one. Nora Roberts has a way with series, making them one long continuous story, one you never want to end. LOVED THIS SERIES!!As always Nora Roberts does not disappoint, her books are always fun, sad, or memorable in some way. This one is no exception, if you love Nora, you will love thisGreat qualityBought for Scotland/Romance story obsessed mother. She liably informs me they are fab and she would recommend them to anyone.Came quickly and as describedSeries from Nora Roberts in a good quality paperback which arrived quickly
