If you are a curious person who enjoys reading about all types of mysteries and strange phenomena you will enjoy reading this giant (The Mammoth Book of the Unexplained) 596 page book. This text is organized into 8 parts. Each one has numerous short bits of information on a wide range of subjects.Part one provides an overview of "The Age of Unreason." Part two deals with "Hot Chestnuts-UFOs, Part three covers "Beyond the veil" which is about near death experiences. Part four explains some of the mysteries of astronomy. Part five covers "Bizarre Biology." Part six ("Shiver me Timbers.") is about various maritime mysteries. Part seven is about "Panic and Paranoia." The final part deals with various topics combining a lot of strange phenomena such as bizarre archaeology, the map of the creator, the Piri Reis map, the Shroud of Turin, crystal balls and many other topics. In conclusion, even though I think the writer presents these subjects in a clear and mostly objective manner; nevertheless, it seems to me that you can be too open minded and fall into the trap of "taking something on faith" rather than evaluating a subject in a scientific and rational manner. This book is a great read and very entertaining, but keep your feet firmly planted on the ground when reading this book.Rating: 5 Stars. Joseph J.
